Hunger is an unacceptable problem in Canada. There is more that can be done to feed the hungry and to find longer term solutions to reduce hunger.
Organizing a fundraising event requires a great deal of work and preparation. To help make your job easier, we have put together a resource guide for you to use. You can also contact us by calling toll-free at 1-877-535-0958 or e-mailing info@foodbankscanada.ca.
With the constant help of our many donors who provide, food, gifts of money, transportation and expertise, we are able to respond to those in need across Canada.
Food banks also need food, funds and assistance with picking up and transporting food and other goods to make sure that the food keeps on moving to where it's needed. That's why fundraising events are so important, nationally and locally.
Running a food bank takes a lot of work. Of course, the most important task is to feed people in need across Canada. Food banks work with member agencies and supply support to meet the need of their clients. On a day-to-day basis the food banks and Food Banks Canada answer calls, organize events and mail information packages. Food Banks Canada manages relationships with corporate donors in terms of meeting the current need for food stuff, transportation and expertise. We also put together press kits and information packages to fuel our advocacy efforts.
Local food banks always need help sorting food and preparing food hampers. You can stand shoulder to shoulder with other like-minded people. Some families, clubs, companies or other groups make regularly scheduled visits to help sort food. We request that you call your local food bank to schedule your visit.
